The orange peel grab is primarily used for the handling and loading of various materials such as scrap metal, industrial waste, crushed stone, construction debris, and household waste. So, how does the orange peel grab, which plays a significant role in the transportation and handling of heavy loads, function?

Working Principle of the Orange Peel Grab:

The orange peel grab is an effective tool for handling large, irregular materials such as scrap steel, pig iron, ore, and waste.
The hydraulic orange peel grab (steel grab) is a device used in conjunction with a bucket. It operates through a fixed hinge, hydraulic cylinder, hydraulic grab, hydraulic hoses, and a hydraulic integrated control circuit. By controlling the hydraulic grab's opening and closing movements via a control handle, it can assist in excavating and transporting large, heavy objects such as stones, wood, and metal scrap, thereby compensating for the bucket's limited functionality of solely excavating.

By implementing a low-cost modification, the excavator gains the ability to grasp heavy objects, expanding its application scope and usage scenarios. Compared to reconfiguring the excavator with a grab bucket, this modification reduces usage costs by one-third. Both the hydraulic grab and the bucket can be controlled independently, offering greater operational flexibility and convenience. When excavation work is required, the hydraulic grab can be retracted without affecting excavation operations. When needed, it can perform grabbing functions, making it a clever and efficient modification.

Hydraulic orange peel grapples come in four-peel and five-peel designs, as well as rotating and non-rotating versions. Connection methods include fixed and swing types. Non-rotating grapples use the excavator's bucket cylinder hydraulic lines, eliminating the need for additional hydraulic valve blocks and piping. Rotating grapples require an additional set of hydraulic valve blocks and piping for control.

The orange peel grab, also known as a steel grab, is designed for handling loose or block-shaped materials such as stone, scrap metal, and household waste. When the five-claw (four-claw) is fully opened, the grabbing area diameter can reach 2 metres. The hydraulic five-petal (four-petal) grab can use the excavator bucket cylinder oil lines without additional piping, and it is simple and easy to operate. It has high work efficiency and is safe and reliable under actual working conditions.
